Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr’s Performance at the 2025 HYROX World Championships
Seven-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr competed at the 2025 HYROX World Championships on June 14, racing in the Mixed Doubles alongside her partner James Newbury. However, it was announced that Toomey-Orr would be unable to participate in the Women’s Pro Doubles Elite 15 event with Joanna Wietrzyk due to health complications.
While the exact nature of her illness has not been disclosed, multiple sources indicated that it significantly impacted her ability to compete. Toomey-Orr has recently ventured into the world of HYROX racing, making a strong impression in the sport. This season, she and Newbury qualified for the World Championships in the competitive 30-39 age division.
Mixed Doubles Results
At the World Championships, held in Chicago, IL, a total of 4,500 athletes participated over four energetic days. Toomey-Orr and Newbury achieved a commendable fifth-place finish in their division, completing their race with a time of 56:01. The top finishers in their division were Gabriella Moriarty and David O’Toole, who clinched first place with a time of 54:36.
Withdrawals and Elite Doubles Standings
Despite her earlier performance, Toomey-Orr decided not to compete in the Pro Doubles Elite 15 alongside Wietrzyk later that day. Throughout her training for the HYROX World Championships, Toomey-Orr has also remained active in preparing for the upcoming 2025 CrossFit Games season. Recently, she qualified for the Games at the Torian Pro, an In-Person Qualifying Event (IPQE) held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, finishing at the top of the podium. This achievement marks her 10th qualification for the CrossFit Games, solidifying her status as a dominant force in the sport.
As Toomey-Orr refines her focus on HYROX racing, there is anticipation surrounding her potential appearance at the Games later this year. The 2025 CrossFit Games are set to take place in Albany, NY, from August 1 to 3, with tickets currently available for fans eager to witness her return to the CrossFit arena.
