“Exciting Showdown at 2025 Wodapalooza: The Boys and YETI Outkasts Claim Team Titles”

Spectators were treated to an unforgettable finish at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza in Miami Beach, where intense competition unfolded during the men’s and women’s team events on Sunday.

Close Competition Unfolds

As the final event approached, just 12 points separated the top four teams in the men’s competition and the leading two teams in the women’s division, with thrilling contests taking place all weekend long.

The Boys Secure the Title

After a grueling finish featuring 150 ping-pong wall balls, 75 synchro toes-to-bar, and a 150-foot worm lunge, it was “The Boys” — Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, and Travis Mayer — who claimed victory, marking their second championship title together, the first being in 2022. Meanwhile, the women’s title was captured by the YETI Outkasts — Danielle Brandon, Emma Lawson, and Shelby Neal — who edged out Team NUSA (Astrid Tind, Mia Furu, and Frederikke Mollerup) by a mere six points.

Mayer humorously addressed their critics following the competition, stating, “For those that happened to tag each of us on social media and say that we were washed up and didn’t stand a chance up here, the top of the podium speaks for itself, so how about that?”

A Historic Win for The Boys

With this victory, The Boys made history as the first team ever to win consecutive TYR Wodapalooza championships with the same trio of athletes. But their journey was not without challenges.

Despite having considerable experience, the team entered the competition with less impressive individual accolades compared to rivals like PJ’s — featuring seasoned competitors like Pat Vellner and Jeff Adler. Ohlsen has hinted at retirement from individual events, Mayer has never finished higher than 10th at the Games, and Smith’s best finish was sixth at the most recent Games.

Team Chemistry Shines Through

Despite the perceived disadvantages, Ohlsen credited their chemistry as the team’s secret weapon: “These guys are my best buddies. Not only do we make a great team performatively when we’re out here on the floor, but we also get along really well… I think that’s actually our greatest strength.” Their bond and teamwork translated into three event wins and solid placements across the competition.

However, they faced strong competition from Mayhem Tres Leches — comprised of Gui Malheiros, Jorge Fernandez, and Saxon Panchik — finishing the final event in an exhilarating lunging footrace.

The final scoring revealed The Boys with 579 points, closely followed by Mayhem Tres Leches at 570, and GOWOD (Justin Medeiros, Dallin Pepper, and Willy Georges) securing third with 561 points.

YETI Outkasts Overcome Adversity

For the YETI Outkasts, the start of the competition was promising, with a narrow lead maintained after the first day. However, after experiencing a tough 21st-place performance in Event 4, they slipped to fourth overall and needed to regroup quickly for the final showdowns.

The team bounced back impressively, finishing sixth in the subsequent event, regaining momentum to claim a podium position ahead of Swedish House Mafia (Emma Tall, Lena Richter, and Emelie Lundberg) and Relyte Salt Baes (Emily Rolfe, Arielle Loewen, and Abigail Domit).

A Dramatic Conclusion

With everything on the line during the final event, the Relyte Salt Baes initially led the charge in the 75 toes-to-bar and reached the lunge ahead of the YETI Outkasts, but a remarkable turnaround saw the Outkasts surge ahead to snatch victory with a stellar performance.

The YETI Outkasts finished strong, while Relyte Salt Baes fell to 12th place, changing the scoreboard dramatically. In the end, the podium was rounded out by Team NUSA and Swedish House Mafia, showcasing a thrilling climax to the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza.

The Growing Popularity of Team Competition

As Wodapalooza celebrates 13 years, the excitement and popularity surrounding the team competition continue to rival that of individual events, bringing fans thrilling contests and memorable moments. For the next year, The Boys and the YETI Outkasts will proudly hold their titles, further igniting the competitive spirit within the CrossFit community.
