Semifinals have concluded, and the anticipation is mounting as we count down the days until the commencement of the 2024 CrossFit Games. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Ricky Garard are back in the fray. While Toomey-Orr is gunning for an impressive 7th Games title, Garard aims to secure his first victory. The latest update from the Semifinals has brought about a change in the top spot in The Spin Top 25 Media Poll on the men’s side.

Jeff Adler Secures the Lead

Jeff Adler has reclaimed the coveted top position, clinching nine out of the 18 first-place votes. Despite Ricky Garard’s triumph at the Oceania Semifinal, Adler, the reigning CrossFit Games champion, managed to edge past him this month. Roman Khrennikov, another strong contender this season, is currently ranked 3rd and received two first-place votes. Notably, no other male athlete garnered a vote to win the 2024 CrossFit Games.

Standout Performances and Noteworthy Rankings

One of the most notable advancements in the rankings was made by Gui Malheiros, climbing five places from 21st to 16th. Malheiros emerged victorious at the South America Semifinal after a lackluster 2023 season. James Sprague and Jelle Hoste also saw improvements in their rankings, each moving up four spots from the previous month’s poll.

In terms of newcomers, Austin Hatfield, Henrik Haapalainen, Victor Hoffer, Jack Rozema, Moritz Fiebig, and Aniol Ekai all made their debut in the Top 25 this month. Hatfield, positioned at 20th, is the highest-ranked rookie in the men’s category.

Toomey-Orr Dominates on the Women’s Side

On the women’s front, the competition was less tight, with Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr holding a strong lead at the top. Returning to the arena after a year-long break for maternity, Toomey-Orr secured 15 of the 18 first-place votes. Making a powerful comeback, Toomey-Orr clinched victory in five out of six events at the North America East Semifinal.

The remaining three first-place votes in the women’s category went to Laura Horvath, the 2023 CrossFit Games champion. The top three positions were rounded out by Emma Lawson, with Alex Gazan and Gabriela Migala following closely behind, maintaining their positions from the previous month.

Rising Stars and Impressive Gains

A standout performer this month was Abigail Domit, who surged up the leaderboard after triumphing at the North America West Semifinal, now occupying the 14th spot after an impressive 11-place jump. Grace Walton, a rookie contender, ascended three spots to 17th, establishing herself as the highest-ranked female rookie in the competition.

New additions to the Top 25 this month included Aimee Cringle, Jacqueline Dahlstrom, and Seher Kaya, introducing fresh talent and fierce competition to the mix.
