With the 2024 CrossFit Semifinals just around the corner, CrossFit enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the updated worldwide rankings that will determine the number of qualifying spots for the upcoming CrossFit Games.
Changes in Qualifying Methodology
One significant change this year is the methodology adjustment for determining qualifying spots. Unlike the previous year, only athletes competing in the individual Semifinals will be considered in the D’Hondt Method calculation. This differs from the previous method, where the top 100 athletes in the worldwide rankings after Quarterfinals could have potentially moved to the team division.
Changes in Qualifying Spots
The revised methodology has led to unexpected changes, especially benefiting smaller regions like Oceania, Asia, and South America. These regions have seen increases in the number of athletes qualifying for the 2024 CrossFit Games. While Africa came close, they were unable to secure a second qualifying spot in either the men’s or women’s division.

Team Allocations
In contrast to individual qualifications, team allocations are set before the season begins and do not follow the D’Hondt Method calculation or utilize worldwide rankings. For the 2024 CrossFit Games, a total of 30 teams will be competing, with each region having a specific allocation based on past performance.
