As the deadline for the first submission window approaches this evening, Katrin Davidsdottir has announced the early conclusion of her 2024 CrossFit Games season. Davidsdottir was aiming to qualify for her 11th appearance at the Games, but a back injury will prevent her from moving forward this year.
In her announcement on Instagram, Davidsdottir expressed,
“It’s with a heavy heart that I share that I will not be able to compete in this 2024 CrossFit Games season. I’ve been dealing with back injuries pretty much my whole career, but this year will be the first one that I am not able to fight my way through ❤️🦰.”
Davidsdottir entered the season following a 7th place finish at the 2023 CrossFit Games. She is the 13th female athlete from last year’s CrossFit Games to not return to individual competition this season.
**Statement from Davidsdottir:**
“It’s with a heavy heart that I share that I will not be able to compete in this 2024 CrossFit Games season. I’ve been managing back injuries for much of my career, but this year is the first time I can’t push through ❤️🦰. It breaks my heart that this means the end of my season. For those who know me, few things light me up as much as being on the competition floor and striving for my full potential ✨. I have an incredible support team that I’ve relied on through this, and I find great peace in knowing we did everything we could to keep my season alive. However, this year just wasn’t meant to be for me. So, as heavy as this feels right now, I also feel a tremendous relief in finally taking the time to focus on getting healthy and healing my back.
It takes a village, and I feel so fortunate to have a wonderful one supporting me; you all mean more to me than I can express 🤗❤️. I wish my fellow competitors a healthy and fiercely competitive season. I will truly miss sharing the arena with you!!! ❤️🔥

Looking at the North America West Semifinal, of the 10 women who qualified for the 2023 CrossFit Games, four will not be present on the individual competition floor in Carson, California. Christine Kolenbrander (injury), Baylee Rayl (moved to NA East), and Kelly Baker (personal reasons) will not be returning to the North America West Semifinal this year.
